4.25 Inch Telescope Mirror Kit
4.25 Inch Telescope Mirror Kit
Do you want to build your own telescope? While it may sound like an impossible task to complete on your own, you really can make a top quality instrument that can surpass telescopes found in stores. A 4.25 inch aperture telescope is a good size for beginning amateur telescope makers.
The first and key piece that you will need to make for your telescope is the primary mirror. You will grind your mirror blank with smaller and smaller abrasives until you have produced a spherical or paraboloidal surface. Once the final figuring and testing steps are completed you will send your mirror off to receive a reflective coating. The process takes a little time and patience but through a little knowledge and the law of averages you can produce an excellent telescope mirror. A mirror this size will typically take about 12-15 hours to grind and polish.
This kit includes your telescope mirror blank and all the abrasives, polish, and pitch needed to grind, polish and figure your telescope mirror. You will also need the materials to make a grinding tool and pitch lap substrate to get started. If you do not have these materials at home we can supply the them as well.
Before long you will be up late at night discovering the universe through a top quality instrument made by your own hands!
